Emmett McBain was a Chicago based graphic designer, art director, activist and educator, who began his career in the mid 1950s. I admire his artwork/designs and his concepts illustrated through his work. He gave back to his community by surrounding his career around using black life as a muse for his work. I noticed how he mainly worked with black designers and became successful, advancing his career rapidly. Learning about Emmett McBain taught me to appreciate design and to keep producing work to show future employers and to advance my skills in design production. Mcbain surrounded himself with his culture and spotlighted black talent which led to society appreciating black culture and more companies started to hire more black creators and models. McBain left a legacy as an inspiring role model for black designers in the industry.
